Hong Kong Air Cargo TerminalsLimited (Hactl) said it handled 2.56million tonnes in 2006, up 5.3 percentyear-on-year, and set a new annual tonnagerecord for the company, havingtopped the 2.5 million tonnes mark.

Hactl said it handled a total of231,757 tonnes in December, up 4.2percent year-on-year. Tonnage handledin the fourth quarter was 717,361tonnes, representing a year-on-yearincrease of 6 percent. Export volumeshowed a year-on-year growth of 4.5percent in December, with a total of128,688 tonnes being handled, whilethe aggregate export tonnage for thewhole year reached 1.44 million tonnes,representing a year-on-year growth of4.7 percent.

Hactl said a total of 64,953 tonnes ofimport cargo was handled in December,up 1.9 percent compared with thesame period in 2005.

Total import volume for the wholeyear was 696,178 tonnes, up 3.3 percenton a year-on-year basis.

Transhipment volume for Decemberwas 38,116 tonnes, up 7.3 percentagainst the same month in 2005,while total transhipment volume forthe whole year was 425,543 tonnes,representing a growth of 11.3 percentyear-on-year.
