Gulf Air is ordering nine new wide-bodied aircraft to boost its cargo capability.
A report by the Bulletin quoted Roberto Hukom, Gulf Air Philippines country manager that the new aircraft will boost not only the airline’s cargo capacity but also its ability to transport more passengers through its network.
Hukom said the new aircraft will have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities which translate into more convenience and service efficiency for Gulf Air passengers.
The order came amid Gulf Air’s ambitious plan to expand its cargo business and corner a huge chunk of the growing cargo market worldwide which IATA predicts at five to six percent growth a year. Discussions for the purchase of the new aircraft with Boeing and Airbus are now in their final stages.
