An official advisory board has approvedconstruction of Jieyang’s ChaoshanAirport, in the eastern part ofGuangdong province, the GuangzhouDaily reported.

The 4.5 billion yuan (US$581.5 million)project, which is expected to be launchedthis year, will be ready by 2010.

The new airport will be connected byseveral highways that will enable easiermovement of goods for the easternpart of Guangdong Province and thesouthern part of Fujian Province.
