The average number of mail being sorted at Emirates Post’s facility in Ramoul crossed one million per day during the fi rst week of April, against the normal average of between 500,000 and 800,000 pieces, Arabian Business reported.
The increasing volumes have prompted the company to increase its sorting capacity by acquiring more advanced machines, which are due to be installed by the end of the year, with a capacity of 3 million pieces of mail per day.
In another development, Emirates Post’s airline subsidiary, Empost, will launch a scheduled A300F freighter service between Amsterdam and Dhaka (Bangladesh) via Istanbul and Al Ain (United Arab Emirates).
Operated in co-operation with Turkish carrier, ACT Airlines, the service was due to start on April 29, initially with two fl ights per week ex-Amsterdam, increasing to six fl ights per week from July 2007.
