Kuwait Airways said it hopes to conclude negotiations with planemakers Airbus and Boeing for an order by the end of May as it seeks to spend up to $6 billion to renew its ageing fl eet, Gulf News reported.
“We are looking at several… planes, among them the Boeing 777 and 787 and the A350 and A340 at Airbus,” Chairman Shaikh Talal Mubarak AlSabah was quoted as saying.
The carrier, which plans to fly more fl ights to existing destinations as well as new routes such as Canada, Australia and China, is also looking at the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 for shorter routes, he said, adding the carrier wanted to place an order with one manufacturer only.
He said the airline, which has 17 aircraft, plans to buy up to 30 planes by 2015 and later increase the fl eet to 55.
