Jet Airways is planning to launch a dedicated cargo airline by the yearend, according to a report in The Indian Express newspaper which quotes the Indian carrier’s chairman, Naresh Goyal.
“We are in discussion with Lufthansa (on this) and expect to make an announcement as soon as the network, facilities, distribution, sales, fall in place,” Goyal said.
A Lufthansa Cargo spokesman confirmed that negotiations were taking place with Jet Airways but said he could not comment further.
Goyal added that Jet Airways is also “hoping to create a cargo hub in Brussels and is in discussion with the Belgian authorities.”
Earlier this month, Jet Airways announced that Brussels would be its European hub as it spreads its network.
The airline will commence flights to the Belgian capital in August connecting Mumbai and Delhi to the US and Canada.
