Ground handler company MacroAsia Corp. plans to establish cargo handling facilities within the new Ninoy AquinoInternational Airport Terminal 3.
MacroAsia president Mr. Joseph Chua said once the modern airport terminal opens, they will invest 1 billion pesos for cargo handling to support the operations of Philippine Airlines (PAL), the Business Mirror reported.
Mr. Chua also said MacroAsia, together with Lufthansa Technik Philippines Inc. and PAL, will put up a second hangar at the Clark International Airport in Pampanga.
Combined investments of MacroAsia, PAL and Lufthansa Technik would amount to US$50 million.
The hangar will house facilities intended for aircraft and engine maintenance, repairs and overhaul services; ground handling and catering services.
With the current growth trend in the Philippine economy, MacroAsia expects a 19-percent increase in total revenues this year from 967.8 million pesos in 2006. The growth will come mainly from the airline catering business, as well as from the ground handling sector.
MacroAsia expects increases in infl ight meal uplifts from existing and new airline clients and expects to secure additional ground handling airline clients this year. – Edu Lopez
