India’s fi rst private-public venture, Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said it will be diversifying from its traditional airport activity by embarking into different areas, including offering its expertise in airports and also setting up, among others, a special economic zone and constructing a Rs 100 crore warehouse.
According to a South Asia Logistics report, CIAL has already held a premliminary round of talks with Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh governments in regards to offering its expertise in the area of airport development.
CIAL would like to take advantage of the Indian government developing 35 small airport across the country. Taking advantage of the government’s open sky policy, CIAL is proposing to start an air service especially to bridge the gap of growing Gulf traffi c.
