The Taiwanese government has given special permission to Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corp to perform maintenance work on a Shanghai Airlines Cargo MD-11 freighter, the Economic Daily News reported.

The report said the Mainland Affairs Council does not rule out the possibility of allowing more mainland aircraft to be maintained in Taiwan if demand grows signifi cantly, an offi cial with the island’s mainland policy agency was quoted as saying. Evergreen Aviation and EVA Airways Corp are both members of Taiwan’s Evergreen group. EVA Air owns a 25 percent stake in Shanghai Airlines Cargo.
