Following the customs facilitation initiated by the Shenzhen Customs, Hong Kong Air Cargo Industry ServicesLimited (Hacis) has formally implemented the “Airport Express Lane”,expediting logistics flows, reducingoverall trucking cost and improvingoperational effi ciency across the HongKong-Shenzhen boundary for freightforwarding agents and airlines.
Incorporating electronic seal (e- Seal) and global positioning (GPS) technologies, the “Airport Express Lane” enhances monitoring of endto- end cargo delivery between HongKong and Shenzhen airports.
By sending advance declaration and digital truck manifest to Huanggang Customs and Airport Customs in Shenzhen, the registered cross-boundary trucks can immediately pass through the dedicated lane at the Huanggang border without inspection as long as the data on the truck manifest synchronizes and the e-Seal is in good condition. The cargoes can be customs-cleared and inspected in one-go at the customscheckpoint of the Shenzhen airport.
Hacis managing director, Warren Bishop said that the introduction of advanced technology for truck monitoring had eliminated the conventional customs declaration and clearance procedures at the Hong Kong-Shenzhenboundary.
“Now, it only takes minutes for the registered cross-boundary trucks to pass through the customs checkpoint. Since the inauguration of this service in May, the cargo tonnage transported and number of customers using this mode has been increasing steadily.”
