Plane Handling Limited, a leading ground handling company in the UK has opened its fi fth facility at London Heathrow Airport. West Point is the second dedicated facility Plane Handling has provided for Virgin Atlantic Airways, Cargo Point being the fi rst, which came on line in 1998.
The West Point facility provides 70,000 square feet of warehouse space and incorporates 1,500 racking positions. The facility has the capacity to handle 70,000 tonnes of cargo per annum and has full RTS status with HM Customs & Excise.
Virgin Atlantic Airways import cargo will be processed through West Point, with export cargo continuing to be handled though the neighbouring Cargo Point facility.
Plane Handling director, Rob Williams said: “This represents a major investment for Plane Handling, which allows us to keep pace with the continued cargo growth of Virgin Atlantic Airways.
The new facility will enable Plane Handling to continue to provide excellent service levels moving forward to VAA and their customers”.
