DHL Global Forwarding recently inaugurated a warehouse cum airfreight office inside the new air cargo terminal at the Bengaluru International Airport. With an area of 1255 sq meters dedicated for imports and exports the facility is considered to be a major development in the air cargo space in India, as this is the first time any organisation has been given the permission to have direct
access to cargo within a bonded area at an airport.
Tony Widmer, head of air freight, DHL Global Forwarding, said the company had a 24 per cent share of the market for goods flowing through the existing HAL airport in Bangalore. He expects the company to grow by about 20 per cent in the current year now that the new facility is operational.
