China’s AVIC I recently said that the merged company it is forming with AVIC II will be called “China Aviation Industry Corp. Group”. The merger, which aims to create a state-owned company to oversee aircraft manufacturing in China, including development of a “jumbo aircraft” by 2020 to compete with 737s and A320s, has been delayed several times this year. AVIC I said integration processes are underway but the official start of CAIC Group will be delayed until October.

The CAIC Group will have 14 departments at its Beijing headquarters CHINA and own 10 subsidiaries. One of the units under its oversight will be Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China, the company established earlier this year that is jointly owned by AVIC I and AVIC 2 and istasked with building the larger aircraft.
