Continental Airlines Cargo has reached an agreement with CSafe to become the first passenger airline to offer the company’s AcuTemp RKN. The AcuTemp RKN is the only compressor-based, nondryice ULD available to US carriers.
In use since 2008, the air cargo container has both cooling and heating capabilities and can sustain consistent CSafe’s AcuTemp RKN has been certified by both the European and US aviation safety agencies. interior temperatures in ambient extremes from -30ºC to +50ºC, the company says.
The system is designed to minimise challenges experienced in the air transportation of temperature-sensitive commodities such as pharmaceuticals, electronics and other high value perishables.
In a related development, CSafe’s has announced its AcuTemp(R) RKN received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), making it the first and only active RKN of its kind to obtain approvals from both EASA and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
