Qatar Airways Cargo has become a Regional Associate Member in the Cargo 2000 programme with the Doha-based airline saying membership will allow it to monitor its quality and delivery standards benchmarked against the industry standard.
“Our goal is to increase efficiency and quality of service provided to the airline’s customers with proven and agreed processes, and Cargo 2000’s quality management system offers a proven solution for implementation and measurement,†said Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
Qatar Airways Cargo presently delivers to 87 destinations worldwide using its own Airbus A300-600 freighters and 68 Qatar Airways passenger aircraft. This will increase to 120 destinations and 110 aircraft in the next four years.
Lothar Moehle, Cargo 2000’s Regional Director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “The Middle East has seen the emergence of some of the air cargo industry’s foremost air cargo carriers in recent years and quality is clearly high on their agenda. In addition to Qatar Airways, Cargo 2000’s airline members in the region are Egyptair, Etihad and Saudi Arabian Airlines. In total, Cargo 2000’s membership now includes 28 of the world’s top airlines.
