Leif Rasmussen, a veteran of SAS Group and its various interests, returned to the company 17 August as SAS Cargo’s new president and CEO. Rasmussen takes over from Kenneth Marx, who announced in June that he would leave SAS Cargo as the company will become a smaller and different operation from the one he signed on to lead five years ago. Rasmussen has a strong background in the airline industry, including several leading positions within SAS. In 2000, Rasmussen left SAS to become COO of Copenhagen Airports. Most recently he has held CEO positions at both Carlson Wagonlit Travel and LiverCyte. “Leif’s strong background will be a suitable addition to SAS Cargo, and we are very pleased to welcome Leif back to SAS,†said Benny Zakrisson, chairman of the board in SAS Cargo Group. “Leif joins us at a very tough time for the airline industry, but has a track record of challenging times within SAS, during which he delivered impressive results.â€Â
