Vnukovo International Airport has begun providing cargo handling for carriers with services to the airport following the opening of a new mail and cargo terminal. The inaugural shipment arrived on 18 September 2009 delivered by a scheduled flight from Yakutsk on a Boeing 757-200 by Yakutia Airlines.
The terminal project was implemented as a part of the large-scale programme to develop the airport complex of Vnukovo by the Moscow government. The mail and cargo terminal has an area of 56,800 sq metres with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually which makes it the largest air cargo terminal in Russia. The terminal will provide all air cargo service, ground handling and warehousing of cargo and mail.
