Export cargo registered 28,945 tonnes, a decline by 18 per cent against same period last year. Import cargo volume for August was 13,815 tonnes, recording a decrease of 13 per cent from last year. Transhipment cargo volume was 472 tonnes, representing a year-onyear growth of 27 per cent.
The cumulative tonnage throughput from January to August 2009 was 304,543 tonnes, representing a yearon- year decrease of 26.1 per cent. Accumulated export cargo volume was 197,166 tonnes, down 29.1 per cent while import cargo volume was 104,017 tonnes, recording a decrease of 20.7 per cent. The total transhipment volume up to August 2009 was 3,360 tonnes, up 16.7 per cent against same period last year.
