For the year through July, Hartsfield- Jackson recorded a 23 per cent drop in cargo volume compared with the same period of 2008. Passenger traffic had a much smaller decline of 2.8 per cent during the same period.
The service is the first ‘around-theworld’ freighter service at Hartsfield- Jackson, according to airport officials. The airport has been actively working to attract more cargo business and recently joined with Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to propose that Dubai-based Emirates SkyCargo and Etihad Airways start a cargo route from the United Arab Emirates to Atlanta and on to Dallas.
