Thailand’s six main airports handled 108,605 tonnes of air cargo in October, growing by 1.4 per cent year-on-year, according to statistics compiled by Airports of Thailand (AOT). For January to October, total cargo volume was 906,923 tonnes, down 19.6 per cent compared with the same period last year. Meanwhile, the AOT reported a worse-than-expected fourth-quarter net loss as a result of foreign exchange losses and higher operating costs. Majority state-owned AOT said it made a net loss of THB750 million (US$22.6 million) in the July-September period, against a net profit of THB191 million a year earlier. For its 2008/2009 financial year to 30 September AOT posted a net profit of THB717.26 million, down over 90 per cent from THB7.32 billion a year earlier.
