United Airlines today announced the appointment of Jan Krems as president of United Cargo and vice president United Airlines. Krems takes over the role held by Robbie Anderson who was president of United Cargo since 2010. Anderson’s departure came as surprise to much of the industry and the reasons for his departure have been the subject of much conjecture.
In his new role, Krems will be responsible for all aspects of United Cargo’s sales, revenue management, operations, customer service, product quality, marketing and technology solutions. Krems comes to his new position with 27 years’ experience in KLM’s cargo division. His most recent role was vice president of Americas for Air France/KLM Cargo, where he managed cargo sales and operations for the company. His Air France/KLM Cargo career also includes top leadership positions in customer service, and he has lived and worked in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
