Transmile Air Services (TAS) will be renamed and rebranded as Raya Airways Sdn Bhd, operating as the designated national cargo carrier of Malaysia.
Since completing the 100 per cent purchase of shares and assets of TAS and separating all business involvement from Transmile Group Bhd in July 2013, the airline has been busy reorganising its structure while continuing to operate domestic and regional freighter services. With a new management team in place, the announcement of the revised branding and new name of Raya Airways marks the start of a new phase for the company.
Raya Airways continues to operate a fleet of B727F’s from its base at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport at Subang, Kuala Lumpur and has recently selected the B757F to replace its workhorse.
In March 2014, B757F services commenced between Subang and Hong Kong, operating five nights per week on behalf of DHL Express. Further deliveries of up to five more B757F are planned in the next 12 months to replace the B727F which have been operating for the airline since 2000, with next aircraft delivery confirmed for December 2014.
Raya Airways recently started services from Ho Chi Minh to Subang using B727F aircraft, with plans to start additional services linking Singapore with KL, Bangkok and Hong Kong, as well as other points such as Phnom Penh, Hanoi, Jakarta and Balikpapan as further B757F aircraft are added to the fleet.
As part of the reorganising process and with ambitious growth targets in mind, Raya Airways has also appointed The HAE Group to act as its global GSA partner.
The Malay meaning of the word “raya” is “great” and, according to cargo carrier, this sets the foundation for the philosophy and plans for Raya Airways.
