Singapore Airlines (SIA) Cargo has reported a 5.2 per cent growth in overall cargo load factor (CLF) in February, year-on-year, as cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) was 17.1 per cent higher against an overall capacity increase of 7.6 per cent. Total freight carried for the month rose 14.7 per cent y-o-y to 84,800 tonnes.

Load factor improved on all route regions as the capacity changes were closely matched with demand, SIA said adding that CLF improved for South West Pacific due to an increase in the number of ad-hoc cargo shipments to various destinations. CFL for East Asia rose by 3.2 per cent; Americas up 1.1 per cent; Europe up 2.3 per cent; and West Asia and Africa up 4.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, the system-wide passenger carriage (measured in revenue-passenger-kilometres) declined 3.5 per cent over last year, with 1.3 per cent reduction in capacity (measured in available seat kilometres). Consequently, passenger load factor (PLF) declined 1.6 percentage points to 75.2 per cent.
