Qatar Airways Cargo transported 40 of the world’s most admired show jumping and dressage horses from Amsterdam to Las Vegas to participate in the International Federation of Equestrian Sports’ World Cup 2015 Finals.
The B777F aircraft was especially chartered and equipped with air stables to allow the precious cargo to travel in comfort throughout the 11-hour flight. Each of the horses enjoyed Qatar Airways’ Business Class freighter experience sharing an air stall on board the freighter with only one other horse, and were accompanied by 10 grooms and a veterinarian on their journey from Schiphol Amsterdam to McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, United States. An additional 11 tonnes of equipment including tack, blankets and boots was also loaded onto the flight.
Ulrich Ogiermann, Qatar Airways chief officer cargo said: “Qatar Airways Cargo is proud to transport some of the world’s finest horses. We have a wealth of experience transporting star-performing horses around the world, and strive to provide our equine travellers with the same five-star experience as our human passengers, even offering a five-star horse hotel in our home base Doha.
“Qatar Airways Cargo’s QR Charter service enables customers to transport goods around the world, including live animals. On board the freighter we provide first-class jet stalls and dedicated product management and support, so the horses are experiencing Qatar Airways’ globally renowned hospitality and comfort.”
