Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo has joined forces with Rhenus and Cargonaut in launching e-Fast Delivery, a new concept to simplify the cargo delivery process.
Since 13 May, truck drivers have been able to deliver air cargo at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol directly to designated loading docks without first stopping at the documentation desk. The new eLink system sends an automatic message to the warehouse management system. The handler then checks that:
• the shipment is ready for carriage (RFC);
• the shipment is secure;
• the shipment is paperless.
Upon arrival at the KLM Cargo area, the drivers scan their ACN (recognised road haulier) card and, if it meets all three conditions, they can drive straight to the loading dock.
e-Freight aims to replace paper documents with electronic alternatives in the airfreight industry. By switching to e-Freight, the delivery process for shipment is arranged more efficiently and is less error-prone.
