Third-party logistics service provider Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. is expanding in the Northeast to a larger facility at the JFK International Airport Center in Springfield Gardens, NY.
The 32,134-square-foot warehouse opened on 27 April 2015, and employs a staff of 34. The facility offers a wide range of import and export services for both air freight and ocean cargo shipments, and features a walk-in-cooler to handle the company’s growing perishables and pharmaceutical business. Located adjacent to the entrance of JFK International Airport, the warehouse is strategically positioned close to the area’s major highway system.
Haruho Tanaka, regional vice president, International Division, Yusen Logistics, said: “The warehouse is larger than our previous facility and is in an ideal location to better service our customers. It allows us to expand our ongoing service options that include customs clearance, air and ocean freight forwarding, cargo screening, perishable shipments, special project shipments and warehousing.”
The warehouse complies with Transportation and Safety Administration (TSA) and US Customs Service regulations, and has a bonded area, as well as an office for cargo inspections. It features eight dock doors, including one oversized door that can handle ocean freight containers. The warehouse features energy-efficient T5 lighting with sensors and has a large parking lot that can accommodate any size truck or container.
