Singapore Airlines (SIA) has released its July system-wide statistics indicating an overall cargo load factor 4.1 percentage points lower, year-on-year, as cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonne-kilometres) declined 5.0 per cent against capacity growth of 1.6 per cent. Except for the Southwest Pacific, load factor declined for all route regions as demand did not keep pace with capacity changes, SIA said.
Passenger carriage, on the other hand, improved 2.1 per cent over last year, against a 1.5 per cent reduction in capacity, resulting in a passenger load factor improvement of 2.9 percentage points to 84.6 per cent. “The competitive landscape continues to be challenging,” added the carrier.
