Cho Yang-ho, chairman of Hanjin Group – which includes both Korean Air and Hanjin Shipping – received the Légion d’Honneur Grand Officier medal, one of France’s highest civilian honors, from French President François Hollande at a special ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel, Seoul, Wednesday.
The French government recognised Cho’s contribution to business exchanges between the two countries. Cho serves as the chairman of the Korean organizing committee for France-Korea Year 2015-2016. Cho’s late father, group founder Cho Choong-hoon, also received the medal in 1990.
A biography of the late chairman and founder of Hanjin Group, Cho Choong-hoon, titled ‘BUSINESS as an ART’, was recently published in conjunction of the 70th anniversary celebration of the Hanjin Group.
The biography follows the late Cho’s journey transforming the business ‘into an art’ with his philosophy and originality and his overriding principle of serving his country with patriotism, wisdom, diplomacy and education.
