Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has received an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate for the passenger-to-freighter conversion for the Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft. The CRJ200 SF freighter conversion has been re-delivered to and will enter service with Waterford, Michigan based IFL Group.
AEI’s Authorised Conversion Center, Commercial Jet located in Miami, Florida performed all touch labour required for the modification of the CRJ200 SF conformity aircraft. Subsequently, the aircraft was flown to Commercial Jet’s Dothan, Alabama facility for painting in the IFL Group livery.
AEI currently has over 45 firm orders and commitments for the CRJ200 SF freighter conversion and has stated that interest in the platform remains high.
“We are absolutely delighted that we have received FAA Certification,” said Roy Sandri, AEI president. “I would like to thank the entire AEI team for their diligence and dedication to the CRJ200 SF programme as well as thank all of the Commercial Jet employees for their hard work in bringing this programme to fruition.”
The AEI CRJ200 SF is the only passenger to freighter conversion product that offers operators the option of two cargo Loading systems: Eight 61.5″ x 88″ or eight 62″ x 88″ ULD positions. This unique capability is achievable due to AEI’s Large 94″ x 77″ main deck cargo door, AEI said.
Depending upon the model and aircraft weight limits, the CRJ200 SF will have a main deck payload of up to 6,731 KG. The aircraft incorporates one supernumerary seat and has a rigid 9G cargo/smoke barrier with a sliding access door.
