It is the season of goodwill and IAG Cargo has organised a charitable collection from across the IAG family for special causes in Kenya. IAG Cargo shipped four pallets of blankets and sleeping bags from London to Nairobi. The donation travelled 4,255 miles and arrived just in time to help keep children warm this winter.
IAG Cargo collected over 400 cabin blankets and 150 crew sleeping bags, the majority of which will be donated to Kenyan school children in need. IAG Cargo has worked closely with The Order of Malta, an organisation that cares for people in need through its medical, social and humanitarian works, and Blankets4Africa, an organisation that works with charities to distribute blankets to those most in need.
Drew Crawley, CEO at IAG Cargo said: “We understand the difference these blankets can make during the cold months and knowing that they will be put to good use to those who need them most really resonates with our staff. We have reached out to both our airline and trucking partners to make this shipment possible and are extremely thankful for all of the support given. Everyone involved in making the donation happen has really enjoyed working with Blankets4Africa and The Order of Malta when helping us import and distribute the blankets. We’re very proud to support such worthy charities.
Sister Maria Rosa at Amani na Wema Children’s Home said “We express our immense gratitude for your support to our orphanage through you donation of blankets. We depend on donations such as these, as all of our children have lost their parents and depend on support received by donors. We are hugely grateful and wish you all a very happy festive season”.
