LuxairCARGO is an internationally recognised air-freight handling expert, based at Luxembourg Airport in the heart of Europe. LuxairCARGO handled record volumes in 2017.
Although most players in this sector have also noticed the positive impact global economic recovery has had on their businesses, LuxairCARGO’s own special assets are the real reason why it has managed to develop its market and convince its customers despite the presence of major competitors.
For many years, LuxairCARGO has been regularly investing considerable sums of money in its infrastructure, technology, renewing its equipment and training its staff. Cargo teams completed more than 33,000 training hours in 2017.
Amongst recent investments, a new outsized goods hangar was commissioned in 2017. This extension has allowed LuxairCARGO to double its non-standard goods-handling capacity. LuxairCARGO also invested in a telescopic reach stacker crane that can lift cargo of up to 45 tonnes, thus improving our flexibility, which is a real asset that sets us apart from the competition.
The cargo plane parking areas and the lorry loading docks are only 108 metres apart. This means that goods only travel extremely short distances at a fast pace at the LuxairCARGO site. This is an indisputable advantage, as one of LuxairCARGO’s major specialisations is handling perishable and dangerous goods, exclusive products, pharmaceutical or controlled-temperature products, as well as live animals. We have further reduced journey times by installing ULD Fast Lanes that allow us to load full pallets in minimal time, as part of our company’s goal to constantly improve and perfect our processes.
LuxairCARGO is without a doubt a European and international reference in terms of air-freight handling. This LuxairGroup entity employs 1,300 highly trained and motivated staff members. The excellent airport infrastructures at our disposal, combined with good connections to alternative transportation routes, as well as LuxairCARGO’s reactivity and flexibility in an everchanging context, allow us to adapt to and satisfy requests, no matter how specific they may be.
This performance is the result of all these combined efforts. LuxairCARGO handled 938,000 tonnes of goods in 2017, thereby achieving a record year whilst maintaining very high levels of quality and service.
