LATAM Cargo has started cargo-only flights from Miami to Florianopolis airport in southern Brazil, which will initially service once a week, a press release confirmed.
South America’s largest airline said it has the only direct route to Santa Catarina, which relies heavily on automotive, metallurgical, food, pharmaceutical and electronic imports.
Flights to Florianopolis airport will be carried out in B767F aircraft with a 53-tonne capacity, bringing cargo from North America, Europe and Asia.
Previously, cargo entered Brazil through Guarulhos and Viracopos, the airline said, which depended on ground transportation to reach its destination.
With the addition of Florianopolis, LATAM now delivers to 10 Brazilian airports with cargo-only service.
