Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) will convert four additional B737-400SFs for Aeronaves TSM, bringing its total number of orders from the Mexican airline for the same aircraft type to seven.
AEI says production slots and aircraft MSNs for this order have yet to be announced but modification works will be performed by authorised conversion centre Commercial Jet in Dothan, Alabama.
Aeronaves TSM placed two conversion orders for the B737-400SF in early March, the first of which will commence modification in September this year and the other next year. It also placed two orders for CRJ200SF conversions in February.

AEI is working on conversions for different models at its facilities, with conversion costs ranging from $1.9 to $3.8 million depending on the aircraft type. The company says the B737-400SF remains a popular freighter product offering.
So far, it has redelivered over 120 freighter conversions, of which seven were redelivered in 2020. The company is on track to convert more than 36 narrowbody freighters in 2021 and over 45 in 2022, according to Bob Convey, senior vice president of sales & marketing.
