Kintetsu World Express’ Malaysia unit has launched a new warehouse in the free commercial zone at Penang International Airport this week, a press release confirmed.
The warehouse, which occupies 9,234 square metres, started operations on 1 February and has a temperature-controlled area suitable for handling precision electronic equipment, medical equipment, and other freight requiring specific temperature and humidity levels.
“Penang is a focus for investment by foreign-based corporations in Malaysia, and is known as a center for electronics and medical equipment manufacturers,” KWE Malaysia said, adding that the area is ripe for the future.
Located inside the Penang Airport FCZ, the facility offers storage, air import-export loading and unloading, distribution processing and can be reached within one hour by truck from surrounding major industrial parks.
For firms with no physical presence in the country, the company can store and manage products and materials and provide service for customers with vendor managed inventory and just-in-time delivery needs.
KWE Malaysia runs a truck shuttle between Penang and Kuala Lumpur and is also expanding transshipment to third countries via Malaysia.
