Skyways Technics Group is set to expand its Asia Pacific hub at Malaysia’s Subang Airport after it signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysia Airports.
The airport operator said its current tenant is looking to establish full-fledged maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities, including an air frame hangar, component repair workshops, a parts distribution centre, and aircraft on ground (AOG) services.
Randhill Singh, head of KLIA Aeropolis, predicts MRO activities to grow 150 percent over the next 10 years, totaling US$21.7 billion. He said the expansion move aligns with its 5-year strategy to position Subang Airport as an MRO hub for turboprop and ATR maintenance in the region.
“Skyways Technics is a prominent international player in the industry for ATR and regional aircraft maintenance,” Singh said.
“Skyways Technics’ intention to continually expand its capabilities and grow in South East Asia is in complete alignment with our Subang Airport Regeneration strategy which seeks to position Subang Airport as the hub for turboprops in the Asia Pacific and meets the demands of ATR maintenance in the region,” Singh added.

The Danish company—with more than 30 years of experience in ATR maintenance, aircraft component MRO services, and spare parts support—started operating at Subang Airport in 2014 with only a component repair workshop.
Malaysia Airports said the collaboration marks confidence from major global aerospace players such as Skyways Technics to expand regional operations at Subang Airport.
“Building on 7 years of spare parts support for regional aircraft operators and lessors throughout the Asia Pacific, we feel the time is right to offer ever increasing services from our home at Subang Airport,” said Skyways Technics chief Benjamin Nielsen. “Since the very first day we have felt more than welcome at Subang Airport.”
