Lufthansa is set to take in another factory fresh Boeing 777 freighter for its highly efficient freighter fleet, with delivery of the aircraft expected before the end of this year. The German airline will have a total of 15 full freighters when it commences service.

“We are very pleased that we will be able to offer our customers additional freighter capacity in the future. The Corona crisis has impressively underlined how important these aircraft are for global supply,” said Dorothea von Boxberg, LH Cargo’s chief executive.

The twin-engine B777F, with a range of more than 9,000 kilometres, will add payload capacity of 103 metric tonnes. Most would claim this cargo jet is the most efficient freighter in its class and significantly more silent than previously operated three- or four-engine models.

The move follows Lufthansa’s March announcement of a fourteenth aircraft of this type to be delivered this fall 2021.
