Singapore Airlines (SIA) has boosted its cargo handling capabilities for its air freight customers as the airline added Envirotainer’s newest Releye RLP container to its service offering.
The state-of-the-art temperature controlled container has been approved for use on board SIA’s freighter and passenger aircraft and will provide the airline’s customers with full visibility of their temperature-sensitive cargo.
Powered by rechargeable batteries, the Releye RLP container can maintain the shipment’s integrity for over 170 hours on a single charge. A fully integrated live monitoring system allows customers to track and monitor various aspects of the shipment’s condition, such as location, temperature, and humidity, as well as the battery levels of the unit.
SIA said the new addition is expected to boost the airline’s pharma and cold chain offering with a wider range of active and passive containers
Its recertification under IATA’s CEIV Pharma programme in January of last year and the completed QEP accreditation with Envirotainer in November further affirm the carrier’’s stringent handling processes for pharmaceutical cargo—in line with the highest industry standards.
It joins the likes of China Southern Airlines, China Airlines and Cathay Pacific amongst Asia Pacific’s airlines to have the new cargo container approved for fleet use.
