The newest player to enter the freighter conversion arena for Boeing’s 777 widebody jet, Mammoth Freighters, has gotten its first order from Ontario-based Cargojet Airways, who will be the launch customer for its new 777-200LR freighter.

The two have inked a sales agreement for two initial 777-200LRMF freighters with options for two more 300ERMFs and two additional 200LRMFs of the Boeing widebody type.

MSN 29742, formerly from Delta Airlines and the first aircraft to be delivered to Cargojet, is expected to begin the conversion process in mid-2022 with delivery to the Canadian cargo airline in the second half of 2023.

Cargojet provides air cargo services to all major cities across North America, with dedicated ACMI and international charter service. It carries over 25,000,000 pounds of cargo weekly with its own fleet of 31 aircraft.

Mammoth was founded in December of last year specifically to develop, convert, and support both models of thel 777 long-range freighters amidst increased air cargo demand and a boom in e-commerce.

The company said it provides air cargo operators and asset owners the option of either converting their own 777-200LR or 777-300ERs or acquiring or leasing converted freighters from Mammoth’s existing feedstock of former Delta 777-200LR equipped aircraft.
