Air Belgium plans to start Boeing 747-8 freighter operations next year, as the charter airline is looking to hire both Captains and First Officers for the fleet, according to a job listing on the company’s LinkedIn page.
Prospective captains will need at least 5,000 hours of experience with a type rating on the Boeing 747, 777, 787, or 737NG. Meanwhile, the bar sits at 2,000 hours for potential first officers.

Air Belgium currently offers ACMI, freighter and charter flights, with two fresh A330-900s and two A340-300 aircraft. It also operates four A330F aircraft for shipping giant CMA CGM, previously flown by Qatar Airways.
With Boeing set to shut the production line of the widebody jet, analysts say Air Belgium will be looking for secondhand jets with only a handful operators left that are flying the Queen.
