DHL Express earlier this month launched its first delivery service by boat between Batam in Indonesia and Singapore as part of its commitment to using multi-transport modes to improve transit time for shipments.
DHL’s new yellow boat, with a capacity of 35 tonnes, operates twice a day and six days a week between the Sekupang ferry terminal in Batam and the Brani terminal in Singapore.
The express operator has seen rising intra-Asia trade volumes and international shipment growth for Batam over the past year, and the new service will provide customers with better connection to its air network in Singapore and Hong Kong.

DHL Express said the introduction of the dedicated service supports Indonesia’s initiative of establishing two special economic zones (SEZs) in the Indonesian city, which has an expansion plan to establish more data centers and relevant services supporting the digital economy and aviation industry.
