DHL Global Forwarding, the freight specialist arm of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has been awarded the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) certification for its life sciences and healthcare facility in Sri Lanka.
The 15,000-sqft facility, opened in 2017, is located in Peliyagoda, which is the Airport Expressway’s entry point that links the capital of Colombo with Bandaranaike International Airport.
The temperature-controlled warehouse includes a cold room chilled to 2-8 °C and offers pharmaceutical companies a highly controlled environment for storing and distributing medicines.
DHL Global Forwarding the certification attests the company’s consistent quality management systems throughout the entire supply chain, and meets the stringent safety and security standards by the WHO for pharmaceutical products.
Fitch Solutions predicts Sri Lanka’s pharmaceutical market to reach LKR141.8 billion or US$625 million over the next five years.
