Qatar Airways Cargo and logistics software provider WiseTech Global, have launched a direct online cargo booking solution connecting both companies’ operating systems.
This connection is now available live and will further enhance the flight schedule and operational data exchange that were implemented by the airline last year.
The integration between WiseTech’s flagship platform CargoWise and Qatar’s cargo management system, CROAMIS, will allow freight forwarders to choose their flight and confirm a booking with the airline in real-time, without having to leave the platform, including modifications.
“With our operational data exchange with CargoWise seeing positive results, this was a natural next step in the partnership,” said Guillaume Halleux, cargo chief at Qatar Airways.
“Our digitalisation strategy remains centered on moving to robust systems, automatic quotations, real-time integrations, and improved reporting. These have become critical in an industry that is moving rapidly towards digital solutions.”
Scott McCorquodale, head of airline connectivity at WiseTech Global, said the e-booking connection will enable forwarders to confirm their bookings without any input from airline staff and to focus on providing value-added services to their customers.
“There’s no denying that the traditional air cargo booking process for many freight forwarders, which relies on communication methods such as telephone calls and emails, is now so glaringly inefficient that they simply must move to the electronic method, or risk being left behind,” McCorquodale noted.
