Shanghai-based cross-border e-commerce joint venture Gebrüder Weiss Express China wants to more than triple its service volume to 25 million parcels in 2022 and is expanding rapidly.
After focusing on central and eastern Europe over the last 2 years, Gebrüder Weiss Express will now offer last-mile delivery services across the EU, the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Israel.
Gebrüder Weiss Express, established in 2020, developed out of the Gebrüder Weiss China e-commerce department which had been set up in 2017. It opened a Guangzhou office in January this year with 23 employees, together with Joint Venture partner Global Freight Systems China or GFS, a cross-border e-commerce company established in Guangzhou in 2004.
“We offer customs clearance and efficient, quick last-mile delivery”, said Stan Chen, General Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Express China. “Existing and new partnerships with Chinese and Western e-commerce companies have enabled us to expand our service spectrum. We now cover many of the world’s biggest e-commerce markets.”
With a strong global network, Gebrüder Weiss Express manages the customs clearance locally, at airports close to the destination of the parcel. It covers the Central and Eastern European countries with parcel service partner DPD Austria, of which Gebrüder Weiss is a partner and shareholder.
“We continue to believe in the big potential of cross-border e-commerce. This sector is growing, and we expect that the volume of parcel shipments between China and Western countries will rise in the coming years,” underlined Chen. “Thanks to our global network and know-how, we can offer specialized solutions to e-commerce companies.”
