Korean Air is strengthening its competitive advantage in the global air cargo market with the recent certification from IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators Pharma (CEIV Pharma).
Valid for three years, the certification requires a thorough evaluation of the airline’s capabilities, with more than 280 items on the ‘checklist,’ including transportation handling procedure, storage facilities, equipment, and the ability to adhere to regulations.
The airline provides ‘specialized’ cold chain services for pharma and perishable products. In September last year, it opened a “Cool Cargo Center” at Incheon Airport through a joint investment with the airport management group.
Korean Air said the facility significantly improved the service quality of temperature-sensitive cargo by minimizing exposure to adverse environments and by reducing unnecessary movement and traffic.
