Cainiao Network and e-commerce platform Daraz have announced upcoming plans to automate two smart distribution centres in Pakistan.

The distribution centres will be equipped with innovative smart technologies, such as an automatic assembly line and smart distribution setup, as well as Cainiao’s proprietary solutions, including e-PLC, control algorithm and WCS.

Daraz grew 85 percent in gross merchandise value (GMV) over the last two years, experiencing revenue surges during the global 11.11 shopping festival, which prompted the need to streamline logistics distribution workflows.

The e-commerce company said it has been able to improve its sorting capacity fourfold and decrease manual errors by over 90 percent with Cainiao’s technology. The Alibaba logistics unit has built hundreds of automated distribution centres of varying scales in the Chinese mainland, as well as 10 smart distribution hubs across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
