Two ex-IATA colleagues from different parts of the globe have joined CargoAi as the company looks to blaze a trail for financial solutions in the air cargo industry.
Veronica Ibarra, former global billing operations manager at IATA, will join the cargo booking platform from Miami as vice president of operations, whilst Asako Sakurai, who was previously the settlement operation manager for Asia Pacific at IATA, will become head of finance, based in Singapore. Both have worked for over a decade at the trade association.
Ibarra brings over 20 years of experience in the financial airline industry, in both cargo and passenger services. Sakurai meanwhile has spent 18 years in finance, with 11 years in the airline industry.
CargoAi said the new addition to its growing team will help realise the company vision to develop financial solutions for the air cargo industry, specifically to solve the pain points that forwarders face in long accreditation processes and lack of additional payments options.
CargoAi reiterated that it is a remote-first organisation. The company hires internationally based on talent, allowing it to create a diverse work culture, including striving for 50/50 gender parity.
