Jettainer is joining the cause for more sustainable air transport with environmentally friendly lightweight nets to secure cargo during loading and offloading.
Made out of sustainable bio-based materials, these newly developed nets, called Pallet Net Zero, are considered the lightest on the market and around 60 percent lighter than conventional polyester options, helping reduce fuel consumption and cutting costs and greenhouse gas emissions in international air transport.
Jettainer further explained that, aside from being more robust and cut-resistant than existing models, the lightweight pallet nets have certification for a service life of five years compared to its polyester version, which usually has a durability of only three years.
The company is set to make around 2,000 nets available for its first customer Lufthansa Cargo. Jettainer and supplier AmSafe Bridport are already working with airline partners on sustainable ideas to give discarded nets a second life.
