Lufthansa sent a press release announcing the appointment of Carsten Hernig as deputy general manager and VP for production, sales and marketing at Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal (PACTL).

Hernig, former VP for Latin America & Caribbean at Lufthansa Cargo, assumed the role in October last year and will manage the airline’s business with PACTL, a Sino-German joint venture formed by stakeholders Shanghai Airport (Group), Lufthansa Cargo and JHJ Logistics Management.

Carsten Hernig has been responsible for various functions in the Lufthansa Group for more than 25 years, including sales planning and steering team for Asia Pacific in Singapore, regional director in Russia and Hong Kong, as well as sales and handling director for South Asia and Middle East. Hernig also led Jettainer GmbH as managing director from 2014 to 2019. He succeeds Christian Haug, who had held this position since 2016.
