inter airport Southeast Asia finished strong last week after 3 days of conferences and exhibition at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
The conference—with the title theme “Re-Conditioning for Asia’s Long-Haul Growth”—saw high-level representations from airports, business partners including architects, designers and consultants as well as the aviation ecosystem, including airlines and ground handlers.
Joining the line-up of industry heavyweights during the conference were Jean Roche, head of international engineering services at ADP International; Piyush Chawla, APAC managing director at Cirium; and Angela Ng, director at the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
At the exhibition space, industry players took the opportunity to launch new offerings at the event, which include a battery-powered ground power unit that can reduce carbon footprint developed by ITW GSE, remote-controlled aircraft tug by Sanxing; as well as improved face recognition technology by Cognitec.
Speaker Brendan Sobie, industry analyst and consultant at Sobie Aviation, had this to say:
“We are at a critical juncture in Asia with passenger traffic recovering rapidly and likely to reach a full recovery late this year or next year. Once growth resumes airports will be rushing to get ahead of the curve.”
“As more terminals and runways are reaching their maximum capacity, there is an associated need for more equipment. There is hardly a market in Asia that will not have expansion plans in the next few years, but every market is different in terms of their growth trajectory and requirement,” he noted.
The exhibition also gathered representatives from Germany and Italy with the German representation growing 27 percent compared to the last IASEA held in 2019. The biennial event will return to Singapore for the 9th edition in 2025.
