Scan Global Logistics has partnered with real estate and retail conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim to launch a pilot project that will see the usage of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for products transported by air.

The pilot project, started on 1 May 2023, aims to reduce carbon emissions from airfreight shipments of fashion brand Majid Al Futtaim Lifestyle from Asia to the UAE. Scan Global said the project will continue over the next 3 months.

The freight forwarder said SAF is part of its portfolio of sustainable logistics solutions, which include biofuel for ocean freight, road freight and electric trucking. The SAF that will be used is made from sustainably sourced renewable waste and residue material, the company said.
